(GHT) Kanchenjunga and Makalu Traverses Trek 34 Days.

GHT's first phase trek starts from Kathmandu and ends in Kathmandu. We flew from Kathmandu to Biratnagar and took a jeep to stay overnight in the beautiful town of Dharan. Dharan is one of the most popular and busiest cities in the eastern part of Nepal. Dharan is also called the London of Nepal. We explored Dharan city in the evening, where we went to places like Buda Subba temple, the local market, and some major places of Dharan city. Then, we started our next day’s trip in the morning from Dharan to Taplejung, and Tapethok driven by jeep. Our journey was awesome. We started our trek from Tapethok. We walked through the Ghusa River and different tiny local villages. I had local wild honey in Japantar and I got a little unconscious. That was my first experience of trying mad honey. Our travel continued to beautiful forests, streams, rhododendron, pine tree, wild animal, yak, rare animal Red Panda, and Himalayan ranges. We reached Ghunsa Village in the evening. We stayed at Ghunsa Village overnight. Ghunsa is a very beautiful Village in Sherpa. We explored different Shops, such as Tibetan carpets, local markets, coffee shops, monasteries, and stupas and we tested local food. Next, our trip continued to Kanchenjunga's north base camp through the Khambachen, Lhonak, and Kanchenjunga Base camp 5350m. Kanchenjunga's north base camp weather was wonderful and the views were gorgeous. We had our best time there with our guest from Canada. We returned back from Kanchenjunga north base camp to Ghunsa Village. Then we did the Nangola-pass and we arrived at Olangchung gola village. Trek was awesome with beautiful views. Olangchung gola is a small village resided mostly by Tibetan. Olangchungola is the last statement of the Nepal side and those people who are doing business with China. Then the trek passes through pine and rhododendron forests. After a walk of two and a half hours, we reached a place called Jadak (3630m) for lunch. Then we walked off another valley towards Lumba Sumba. The three hours through rhododendron and mixed forests took us to our camping site at Upper Langmale. It seemed as though the road was soon going to connect. After breakfast, we headed to the Lumba Sumba Pass trek. The Lumba Sumba trek is quite new and is becoming more popular nowadays. In this trek, we can see, the Kanchenjunga mountain range, Jannu, Pathivara Temple, Makalu, and Mount Everest Himalayan range, wildlife, local lifestyle, and multi-culture, and many more.

After the Lumba Sumba pass, we reached Tibetan village of Thudam. Thudam village is located in Sankhuwasabha, Makalu section. In the village, people are influenced by Tibetan culture and languages. Their main occupations involve trade and animal husbandry. We headed from Thudam village to Gongon village, this village is a huge settlement of the Sherpa and Bhote people. Our camping trip starts a day after Gongon village until we reach Yangri Kharka because there is no any human settlement for 4 to 5 days in between. We did camping for 5 days and this days of camping trek was amazing with the wonderful view and Himalayan scenery. We came across beautiful forests, lakes, wildlife, wild animal, birds, yak Himalayas ranges, flora, and fauna, and hubs meditations. We climbed all the way up to Molun Pokhari. At the beginning of the walk, we walked through the jungle and later we arrived in the alpine zone. Molun Pokhari is a beautiful place that is very close to the China border with a panoramic landscape view. Getting ThuloSuntali, we descend steeply down to the Barun River, which is the holy river in Hindu culture. Following the north bank of the Barun River, we arrived at our campsite with a view of Mt. Makalu.

We can see some Tibet territory from Mulan Pokhari. Mulan Pokhari is a very huge lake. We can see a lot of lakes during this trek, like, Kolo pokhari, Dhud Pokhari, Dhalle Pokhari, and so on. Mount Makalu is the 5th biggest mountain on the globe and the beautiful lake of Dhud Pokhari sits on the lap of Mount Makalu base camp. So back from Makalu base camp, we did two passes. In the beginning, we climbed up to Keke-la 4185m pass and down to Thulo Pokhari and again climbed up to Sheptem-la 4261m and all the way down to Khongma via ridge and with panoramic Kanchenjunga mountain view, Chamlang, Tutsemt. The trail continues down to Seduwa crossing different communities on the way. You can see farming over here, including cardamom. This ended our trek and we flew back from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu.
